Gripedo was proudly featured in Issue 363 of Climbing Magazine, appearing in the October/November 2018 edition as part of the magazine’s Essentials: Training Tool Review. The issue highlighted Gripedo alongside a selection of specialized tools designed to help climbers improve strength, conditioning, mobility, and recovery.
Built for the Demands of Climbing
Climbing requires much more than strong fingers. Athletes must be able to maintain control through their hands, wrists, and forearms while pulling, rotating, stabilizing, and adjusting their grip across different holds and positions.
Gripedo was designed to challenge these areas through a wide variety of movements. Climbers can use it for wrist rolling, static holds, rotational training, loaded carries, pulling exercises, and granular training in sand. These applications help develop the grip strength and endurance needed to hold on longer and continue performing as fatigue begins to build.
A Versatile Tool for Stronger Forearms
The Gripedo’s feature in Climbing Magazine recognized what makes the device especially valuable: its versatility.
When attached to an Olympic-sized barbell, Gripedo can be used for multiple wrist-rolling variations and high-resistance forearm training. The rounded end allows athletes to challenge the hands and forearms from an open-hand position, while the attachment pin makes it possible to incorporate Gripedo into sled pulls, loaded holds, pull-ups, and other strength exercises.
It can also be placed into a bucket of sand for low-impact granular training. Twisting the Gripedo against the resistance of the sand creates a primarily concentric exercise that conditions the hands, wrists, forearms, and entire arm while building long-lasting grip endurance.
Helping Climbers Eliminate a Weak Link
For climbers, grip is often the connection between their total-body strength and the wall. Strong legs, shoulders, and back can only take an athlete so far if the hands and forearms fatigue first.
Gripedo helps climbers train this critical link through movements that go beyond traditional squeezing exercises. By strengthening the wrists and forearms through rotation, flexion, extension, static tension, and open-hand positions, athletes can develop more complete grip strength and control.
Gripedo’s own press archive notes that professional climber and Mountain Strong Denver owner Matt Lloyd tested the device and contributed an article featuring it in Climbing Magazine. Gripedo has also been used as a training tool at Mountain Strong Denver with elite climbers.
Recognition from a Leading Climbing Publication
Being included in Climbing Magazine was an exciting milestone for Gripedo. Since its launch, the goal has been to create a durable and adaptable training device that helps athletes build stronger hands, wrists, forearms, and arms.
The feature in Issue 363 introduced Gripedo to more members of the climbing community and reinforced its value as a compact, rugged, and highly versatile addition to an athlete’s training program.
Whether you are preparing for difficult routes, improving your grip endurance, or looking to strengthen your forearms through a wider range of motion, Gripedo gives you multiple ways to train with one lifetime-built tool.
